Catherine Donnelly Postek

Catherine Donnelly Postek of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina died Thursday, June 14, 2018. A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, from 4:00-6:00 pm. Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Spartanburg, SC at a later date. Catherine was born June 29, 1944 in Portland, Oregon, daughter of the late William P. Donnelly, III and Christine Gwynn Donnelly. She graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. During her studies she developed a deep love of learning that she continued to nourish throughout her life. From the fine points of politics, art, or finance, Cathy derived great joy from well-informed, lively debate. Cathy also reveled in travel - so much so that she became a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines. She journeyed all over the world and believed so strongly in the horizon broadening effect of travel that she often took friends and family members along to experience it with her. She is survived by her son, Andrew Postek of Chicago, IL; her brother, William Donnelly of Laurens, SC; her former spouse, Thomas Postek of Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Intelligent and proud, Cathy was a powerful woman who made an impression on everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.
