Roger C. Blondell

Roger C. Blondell, age 82 of Sartell, died peacefully Monday June 25, 2018 at Country Manor in Sartell, Minnesota. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church in Sauk Centre. Roger Charles Blondell was born May 26, 1936 in Hector, Minnesota to Henry and Norma (Klitzke) Blondell. He went on his first date with Karen Otte on February 14, 1958. The couple was married on April 27, 1960 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. They lived in Sauk Centre and later moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota for many years. For the last year he resided at Country Manor. Roger gave accordion lessons for many years. He enjoyed entertaining his family and friends while playing the accordion and piano. He also enjoyed collecting and selling cars, going to auctions, garage sales, and fishing. He was an avid St. Paul Winter Carnival treasure hunter. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Roger is survived by four children, Patrick (Lisa) Blondell of Sartell, Duane (Bonnie) Blondell of Moorhead, Deborah (Kevin) Chopp of Eden Prairie, and Tammy Philippi of St. Francis; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Hank "Junior" (Lynette) Blondell of Watkins; and sister, Jeanie (Dean) Berglund of Princeton. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen Blondell on April 14, 2012; and son-in-law, Elroy "Roy" Philippi. Serving as casket bearers will be Tyler Philippi, Roy Otte, Will Otte, Jerry Tourand, David Otte, and Dean Berglund. Cross bearer will be Paige Philippi and scripture bearer will be Carley Blondell. ?
