James Michael "Jim" Lane

James Michael "Jim" Lane, age 89, of Clinton Twp., passed away on July 31st, 2018. Loving husband of Victoria (Beste) for 66 years and devoted father to their 10 children. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gerard Lane, his parents Irene Lane (Quilty) and Thomas Lane, and brother Kevin Lane. He is survived by his children, Hon. Cynthia Lane (Alan Simasko), Kathryn Smith (Russ), Patty Messenger, Christine Kaiser, Thomas Lane (Julie), James Lane Jr. (Patty), Mary Beth Lang (Gordon), Victoria J. Lane, and Sandra Schuster (Don); Grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Dilworth, Dr. Paul (Lacey) Smith, Dr. Daniel Smith, Dr. Jeffrey A. Messenger, Dr. Nicole (Dr. Brendan Watson) Messenger, Joseph Messenger, Dr. Elizabeth Messenger, Leann (Michael) Munaco, Brian Kaiser, Lauren (Aaron) Knoch, Catherine Lane, Marianne Lane, Christine Lane, Maddie Lane, James Lane III, Carolyn Lane, Donnie Schuster, Tommy Schuster, Ryan Schuster, Andrew Schuster, Victoria Lang, Joseph Lang; Great grandchildren, Mikey and Ava Munaco. Jim and his family were faithful members of St. Ronald Catholic Church. He was a 1952 graduate of the University of Detroit Mechanical Engineering program and later earned his MBA from Michigan State University in 1968. Jim worked for Uniroyal Tire for 35 years; he was the Plant Manager at the Uniroyal Tire plants in Detroit, MI and Opelika, AL. He retired in 1987, ending his career as Uniroyal's Director of Research and Development in Troy, MI. Jim had a passion for spending time with his family, relaxing up north at his cottage, golfing, bowling, and having his daily shot and a beer. Visitation Friday 3-9pm with a 7pm prayer service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd). Funeral Saturday instate 10:30am at St Ronald Catholic Church 17701 15 Mile Rd (Btw Garfield & Kelly Rds) until time of Mass 11am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
