James H. Gilstrap Easley, SC James Henry Gilstrap, 76, husband of Martha Ann Browning Gilstrap, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, September 1, 2018. Born in Dacusville, SC, a son of the late Thomas Burns Gilstrap and the late Bernice Albertson Gilstrap, Mr. Gilstrap retired from Alice Manufacturing with forty-six years of service and later worked the Pickens County Recycling Center. He was a member of Tremont Church of God and attended New Spring Church with his family. Surviving, in addition to his wife of fifty-seven years, are a son, Michael James Gilstrap of Easley; two daughters, Melissa Gilstrap Batts, and Amy Gilstrap McAbee (Scott), all of Easley; two sisters-in-law, Reba Gilstrap of Easley, and Catherine Gilstrap of Pickens; five grandchildren, Brady Gilstrap, Malorie Schumann (David), Tyler Batts (Sammy-Kaye), Jordan McAbee (Kelli) and Kelsea McClimon(Blake); and one great-granddaughter on the way. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilstrap was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas R. Gilstrap, Sr. and Lamar Gilstrap. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Mr. Tyler Batts and Mr. Scott McAbee officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:15 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Family members are at the home of Martha Gilstrap. Condolences may be expressed online at www.robinsonfuneralhomes.com or in person at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley, which is assisting the family.

I worked with James at Alice mill for several years in the 70s. What a really good man and friend he was to me! I know the Gilstrap family will miss him, but......the Gilstraps are a stromg bunch. They'll be OK, I'm guessing. God Bless!

Sorry to learn of the passing of Mr Gilstrap. I will miss seeing him at the recycling center. We had some good conversations. That's a great picture of him on the web site. May the promises of God comfort you during this difficult time.
