Saddened to hear about Joe's passing.

We couldn't have asked for a better father in law for our daughter, Amanda, than Joe Bommarito. He lovingly and graciously welcomed and embraced Kurt's wife from northern Wisconsin into his family. When Annika and Justine came along, it was clear to anyone who knew him that there were two new loves in Joe's life. That love only deepened and grew stronger, as he watched them take their first steps, played games and sang songs to them, told stories, and just thoroughly enjoyed their presence. Joe was equally proud of Nathan and Steven, and he loved those boys so very much (and worried about them). He happily looked forward to each and every visit. The day he quietly slipped into eternity, he was anxiously awaiting a visit from his granddaughters. To say his grandchildren were the highlight of his life would be an understatement: Grandpa Joe was totally invested in those kids, and was known to quietly "slip" them "a little something" for no reason at all. He has left them each of them a legacy to nurture and carry throughout their lives. Joe's love and pride in Kurt and Karla was heartfelt and real, and he treated Amanda and Bill with the utmost kindness and respect. Judy was his beloved treasure. His fierce love and concern for her was blatantly obvious. He was her defender and protector. Her well being was his priority. Being the engaging storyteller that he was, listening to Joe reminisce about the past was at times educational, sometimes emotional, often humorous, and always entertaining. The family has lost their patriarch, but Joe will live on in their hearts forever. We consider it a true blessing and honor to have known and loved this generous, kind, and wonderful man. We're deeply sorry for the family's great loss, and we pray for God's peace and comfort in the sad days ahead for each member of Joe's beloved inner circle. We love you all very much.
