Tommy was my first cousin and I was sorry to hear of his death. I went to Cedar Knolls, New Jersey for Thanksgiving for many years and have wonderful memories with Tommy's family. His parents Aunt Nell and Uncle Phil were absolutely wonderful to me. Phil and my father James Whelan came out from Ireland
together. They were best friends and there was a third cousin, Cousin Richie and he lived in Boston. His Mother was Tommy's Aunt and therefore Cousin Richie's first cousin. She was Mary Dahill Cushing and her son became the Cardinal of Boston. I remember him as the man with a great love of Ireland and his Irish cousins. When we went to Boston, My father and Uncle Phil went to visit Cousin Richie while I went shopping with my mother and Aunt Nell. Tommy had a long life and he was one of my favorite cousins so my sad surprise was in finding this obituary. Sincerely, Elizabeth Whelan Kelly [email protected]
