Joan S. Stapf (nee Schlobohm), age 91 of Parma. Beloved wife of the late Alvin Stapf; loving mother of Karen Stapf-Walters (Wayne) and Brian Stapf (Gabriella Daroza); cherished grandmother of Tyler, Trevor and Amanda; sister of Starr Schlobohm, deceased, (Dorothy); aunt of Pamela and Starr Schlobohm and Carol Bessermin. Joan passed away May 21, 2019. Born and raised in Lakewood and a graduate of Lakewood High School, Joan moved to Parma with her husband Al in 1954 and she lived there since. A graduate of Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, she worked for many years at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital before becoming a school nurse for the Parma Public Schools, finishing at Parma Senior High. After leaving school nursing, she continued working as a part-time nurse in skilled nursing centers. She was an active member of Parma-South Presbyterian Church for 65 years, serving joyfully on many committees, groups and Christian women's organizations over the years. She remained active with her college sorority alumnae and several nursing associations, and in her later years was an enthusiastic member of quilting and needlepoint groups. She loved travel, particularly to California to visit her children and dote on her grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Abiding Memorial Fund at Parma-South Presbyterian Church at 6155 Pearl Road, Parma Heights, OH 44130. Joan will be inurned next to Al in the Columbarium at Parma South Presbyterian Church, where a private family service will take place at a later date. Busch Funeral Home in Parma is assisting the family with arrangements. (440)842-7800 www.buschcares.com

So sorry for your loss Brian, Karen, and family-your mom was wonderful. I have fond memories of her when I was growing up. She would take the time to walk me to school when I was late, as my mom couldn't walk that far, and she encouraged me when I was going to nursing school. She was always very involved with her family, and there to lend a hand. I know she will be missed. Take care. <3

Joan was a sweet lady . We served as officers together in the early 90s in NEORQC ( Northeast Ohio Quilters Council) I enjoyed being friends with her.
