Luis A. Bermudez passed away on June 2, 2019 at the age of 53. Beloved husband of Roseann (nee Rossi); loving father of Deandre Gadsden; cherished son of Angelica Leon and dear maternal brother of Artemio Santiago (Kelly). Son of the late Heriberto Bermudez and paternal brother of Janet Bermudez-Plaza (Junior), Herbert Bermudez, Ricardo Bermudez (Lizzy), Erick Bermudez, Keyla Bermudez (Jonathan Nieves) and Ismeal Bermudez. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Luis graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School. Shortly after, he proudly served his country during Operation Desert Storm in the Navy. Luis served the city of Philadelphia as a Firefighter for a total of 23 years; 18 years at Ladder 10 and 5 years at Ladder 22. Luis was a successful business owner, who took his love for bartending and worked at/owned many bars. While bartending, he developed a strong interest in music. He loved to DJ and enjoyed various music genres from salsa to country. Luis enjoyed traveling the world and going on various Caribbean cruises with his family. He played softball and travelled to many games with his team. Relatives and friends are invited to Luis' Life Celebration Sunday, June 9th, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, June 10th, from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m., at John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Phila. and to his Funeral Mass, 10:00 a.m., at St. Cecilia Church, 535 Rhawn St., Phila. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Luis' memory to the Firefighter Cancer Support Network at www.firefightercancersupport.org would be appreciated.
