Raised in South Boston, Barbara graduated from South Boston High School in 1970 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Salem State in 1974. Barbara was a retired social worker for Head Start in Plymouth and was fondly remembered for teaching her students how to properly raise and lower the American flag outside of the school daily, displaying her true patriotism. She was also a passionate Red Sox fan, avid reader, who was talented at crocheting. More than anything she enjoyed being a loving "Nana" to her grandchildren. Dear Frankie and family- so sad to hear of Barbara's passing. She will be dearly missed by all. Our fond memories of Barbara date back to the late 60's/early70's when Barbara first appeared on Wendover Street in Uphams Corner when she started dating our neighbor Frankie. My siblings and I were a few years younger than Frankie and Barbara but we looked up to her admiringly. As a young woman she exuded warmth, kindness and a serenity that she would carry forward in her family life and work. I saw her too infrequently over the decades but thankfully visited with her and Frankie a few months ago and she still had not changed an iota over the years. Please accept our deepest condolences.

Barbaras Eternal Garden

by Sherry Rockhill
You can no longer see me, but please know that I am there
I am the flowers in the garden, I am the wind beneath your hair
The memories that I left behind, shall forever be with you
As for me I am in heaven now, where my life will start anew

No longer do I suffer
No longer do I feel pain
I'm at peace watching you from heaven now
Until we meet again

I have always loved my flowers
With nature I was one
My flowers are in heaven now
As my time on Earth is done

I am planting my roses in heaven
My lilies and daisies too
For I want my garden to be perfect
On the day God calls for you

When you walk through the gates of Heaven
I will take you by the hand
And lead you to my eternal garden
Where we will shall never part again!
