Andrew was a student in my world literature course in the fall of 2018 at Clemson University. I found him to be an intelligent, empathetic, and very likable young man. He had a good sense of humor and left a strong impression. I enjoyed his thoughtful contributions to the class discussions. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with his parents and family.

Words are hard to come by right now. I am heartbroken to hear about Andrew's passing. I met him once when he was, I'm guessing, about 11 years. He had a fishing pole in his hand and a big smile on his face. I thought what a kind and polite youngster he was. My heart and prayers go out to all his family and his friends. I had the privilege of having John as a member of National Junior Honor Society at Gettys Middle School. Such a delight and a mannerly, young man. I am so, so saddened by this news. Prayers for all of you at this time.

I considered John a friend that shared the love of our natural world. He will be missed by many. I will always think of him on my walks and visits to the white oak. Rest in peace my friend and we will meet again.
