I had the privilege of working with Steve at City Hall. He always had a smile and happy greeting when delivering mail or paper supplies. A heart that loved people. Glad to call him friend.

Steve was one of our crew growing up on Woodward Ave. We always played touch football in the street etc, usually led by his older brother Dave. We all had a lot of fun together and we thought we were pretty tough. We used to walk to Verona school and we would cut through Walker's drug store parking lot. One day Steve was walking behind a car as it was backing out and it knocked him down. He bounced right up and said I just got hit by a car! We all thought that was pretty cool. My condolences to Kenny, Jeanette, Dave and Dan.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I was thinking of when I first met Steve. It was in kindergarten. It seems like we had the same teachers for most of elementary school. One particular fond memory I have of Steve is from 5th grade. We had passed the proverbial note asking to check "yes" or "no" to the "do you like me?" question. Then, as typical for the time, Steve and I hung out together the only way 5th graders did back then...on the playground at recess laughing and chasing each other around. The memory brings a smile for the kids we were. I moved away after college but then 20 years ago I came back to Michigan. As it turned out, I moved two doors down from you, Mr. & Mrs. Burkhead. I would run into Steve when he visited you. Sometimes we would wave. Sometimes we'd chat a bit. But Steve always had a smile. It was the same smile of the young boy I remember from elementary school. It is that smile I am remembering now.

So sorry for your loss. I met Steve while working for BCPD. He was always a good friend to chat with when he came to the station during his mail rounds. Steve always had smile on his face and made me laugh with his jokes. Steve will always be remembered and happy to call him a good friend.

I am so sorry to see that Steve has passed. Our paths crossed often growing up in the same neighborhood and both of us working for the City. We always had great talks when we connected. My deepest sympathy to all the Burkheads on your loss.

Remember Steve the most from the old cub scout meetings. I would run into him every now and then at the post office picking up the mail for the city!
So sorry to see of his passing. Prayers to all of the family.
