Carlyle (Carl/Kirk) Mossman was born on June 11th,1944 in Twinsburg Ohio to Charles and Esther Mossman. He is the third of eight children growing up in Olmsted Township helping his dad raise goats, pigeons, and geese and tending a large garden. Carl attended Olmsted Falls Schools, where he was chosen to attend the Boys State summer leadership and citizenship program. He eventually moved to Wapakoneta, Ohio, where he met his wife, Bonnie. He graduated from Wapakoneta Senior High School in 1964. After attending Ohio State University for several quarters, he transferred to the University of Toledo where he earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology with an emphasis on social work and a M.E.D in Guidance and Counseling. Carl and Bonnie were married in June of 1970. For the first four years of their marriage, Carl and Bonnie both worked full-time jobs and did a lot of traveling. Their favorite destinations were New England, the Smokies, New York City, and many other places where family members lived. In 1973 daughter, Karlie was born and in 1976, son Kyle was born. Carl and Bonnie raised their family in Maumee, Ohio. Carl participated in many of his children's school and extracurricular activities. He was very proud when his children graduated. The family belonged to St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Toledo. Carl sang in choir, taught Sunday school, played on the church softball team, and served on and chaired several committees. For the first 15 years of his career Carl worked for the Lucas County Family Court as an intake worker at the juvenile detention facility and a structural family therapist. In 1986, he was hired by the Zeph Community Mental Health Center as an intensive case manager. He loved taking his clients on day trips to the beautiful parks, museums, and zoo in Toledo. In 1992, Carl was hired by the Ohio Civil Rights Commission where he worked as an investigator for 15 years. In 2007, Carl and Bonnie both retired and moved to Cleveland after the birth of their first grandchild. They enjoyed being close as their son's family grew and helping with their three Cleveland area grandkids, George, Henry and Mallory. Carl and Bonnie also enjoyed taking trips to Florida to visit their daughter, Karlie, son-in-law Brian, and granddaughter Kayla in Jacksonville, Florida and traveling with them around the country. The family would also like to acknowledge the staff of The Normandy and The Hospice of the Western reserve team who provided compassionate care for Carl and support for the family. Always a great dad to his kids. I knew him as his children's teacher at Fort Miami School. His support to our school and his children was the best. All dads should take a lesson from this man. Sorry for your loss and continue on as his best example to others.

Carl was a very sweet, kind person. He was very active in our church. We both feel really blessed to have gotten the chance to know Carl. God bless Carl and God bless Bonnie and their family.

My brother was loving and caring. He had a great sense of humor! Always dependable and supportive, he was everything someone would want in an older brother. I will miss him.

I remember Carl as a funny, generous kid in high school, and I know he has been a loving and wonderful father and husband. I know he will be remembered fondly by many who have known him throughout his life.
