I played hockey with John in the Natick men's league and learned of his passing recently. I knew him only as John, but what I do recall of him was his very friendly manner and sportsmanship on and off the ice. Always had a smile on his face, always a friendly hello. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. John was very well liked by everyone in our league and his passing is felt by all of us. RIP John!

To the Carroll Family,
I was so very sorry to hear the news. John was a year older than me growing up in our neighborhood and I remember him fondly. He had a great smile and a kind heart and was "wicked smaht!" Loved watching him play hockey and cheering him on. Walked past the Carroll house in S. Weymouth often to play in the creek at the end of the street. Such wonderful memories and his BCH & BC achievements were impressive. May his bright spirit live on through his family, his children and his friends who cherished him.
Deepest condolences.

While friendly at B.C. High, John and I forged a deep and permanent friendship our freshman year at B.C. We were roommates on the third floor of a house very close to campus. Our shared experiences as welcome refugees in the B.C. freshman dorms created a strong bond. John's wry sense of humor and ability to make light of the daily challenges and opportunities we were experiencing led to a series of inside jokes and catch phrases we shared and were also quickly adopted by our growing circle of friends. Over the years our mutual interest in music and passion for Boston sports teams were the topics of great conversations/debates and shared experiences.
I feel very fortunate to have known John. I will always admire him. John was a very genuine straight-forward good person who put family and friends first. My sincerest condolences to all members of his family and his many close friends.

To the Carroll family,
My heartfelt condolences on the passing of a dear soul. John was part of our neighborhood gang-Nash School, street hockey, skating in the swamp, riding bikes. I will always remember the Nutcracker in elementary school and how he hated that we all had to dance (and hold hands!) on stage. He was funny and a real character. He loved hockey and his BC high crew. There were 20+ of us in the Whipple/Rockcroft neighborhood-all the same age. He will always be part of my memories of growing up in South Weymouth. Those were the best times.
Deepest regards,
Paige

Dear John and family and friends, I want to try to thank you for the warmth of your quiet presence and enduring support support over these many decades of friendship. You were blessed to have received the true and abiding values of fidelity and self-reliance from your loving mom and dad, Therese and Jack. I owe them much for their example, kindnesses and the loan of their son for 4 of the best years of my life. I used to think that I loved BC more than anyone but time showed me the depth of your devotion - a centripetal force that reminded us all of the beautiful love and spirit that we felt when we were together at the Heights and all the years beyond. Thank you for sharing your dear Carroll family (Michael and Kristin) and Lane and Merrigan (Jennifer, Peter...) families and friends - I love them all! Thanks for sharing your hilarious, athletic and musical Weymouth boys. You were a natural connector and cultivator of your many friends and loved ones. You were there for all of us BC guys in good times and sad ones. I am thankful for your example, John, and your inspiring toughness through so many challenges. I draw consolation and feel deep gratitude to you, Kelly, and to Lydia, John Jr., MacKenzie and Jake for the great love and unity you have given to our dear friend and classmate! God bless you all until we meet again to celebrate the precious gift of John in our lives, Amen. Brian

My condolences to the Carroll and Capra families on John's passing. I have known John for almost 35 years from our early days at Boston College. He was always a trusted friend and a quality person. He was consistently centered around his family and was always kind and caring. He was that rare person who you couldn't get mad at. His spirit will live on with his BC crew. Thank you Jake for all the incredible memories and for being there for so many people. Rest In Peace - we will miss you.

Knew John since we were 8 years old playing farm league baseball together in Weymouth. Hundreds of hockey games as teammates, epic one-on-one wiffle ball games in his backyard and ridiculously competitive street hockey games with the Whipple St crew makes one realize that Weymouth was a such special place in which to grow up. Special because we had the unique blessing of being surrounded by stalwarts like John and his entire family. You are such an important part of the fabric of our lives. Miss you dearly, pal. You and Joe are the brothers I never had. When the loss gets overwhelming, know that your life lives in all of us, as vividly as if you were here. So blessed to be able to carry your spirit, buddy. Love you, John. Missing you...

John was a really special guy and I'm so thankful to have had the opportunity to have worked with him at Taurus for several years. He filled a room with laughter, focused on the things that mattered most (relationships), and could always be counted on as a teammate. To John's family, he will be missed but not forgotten. Saddened by this terrible news and thinking of you all.
