Mary Partridge Obituary

Published by Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Sep. 16, 2020.
Mary L. (Duggan) Partridge of Rockland, MA., passed away peacefully on Sept. 16, 2020 at Southwood Nursing Center in Norwell, MA. Recently she was under hospice care; however, she lived a very happy and healthy 99 plus years. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was kind to everyone she met and cared deeply for her family and friends. "Mum" will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. She was born June 3, 1921 to Thomas S. and Mary (McNamara) Duggan. Her siblings were the late Thomas Duggan of Cohasset and the late John Duggan of Pembroke. She grew up on Glendale Rd. in Quincy and moved to Rockland in 1956 to raise her family in the country. She was married to the late Ernest E. Partridge for over 40 years. Her children include M. Christine Dion (Earl) of Norton and Ormond Beach, FL; Maureen A. Bono (Stephen Sr.) of Whitman; James M. Partridge (Kimberly) of Rockland; and the late Ellen K. Partridge of Rockland. Grandchildren include Michael Dion, Stephen Bono Jr. (Cathleen), Christine Bono, Brian Partridge (Beth), and Kevin Partridge. Her great grandchildren are Gregory Bono and Elliot Partridge. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who live throughout the United States. Mary graduated from Quincy High School in 1939. She worked for the Bethlehem Steel Company at the Quincy Shipyard until W.W. II ended. After raising her family, she worked in the office at the family business, Monroe Company of Quincy. Mary belonged to the Abington VFW Ladies Auxiliary # 5737. She enjoyed taking part in working at the election polls on voting days in Rockland. At one point she was the oldest and longest member of the Rockland Democratic Town Committee. Mary loved to drive and was the self-proclaimed "Best Driver in the Family." She volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program in Rockland which allowed her to serve the elderly who could not get out. She also spent quite a bit of time exploring the roads throughout the South Shore in her car with her co-pilot Ellen by her side. She loved to laugh and found it humorous to speak with friends and family in her own made-up language called Tut-No, which was hard for others to decipher. Anyone who heard her speak in this Tut-No language was amazed at how fluent she was with it. Arrangements are under the care of the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, September 22 from 5:00-7:00 PM. The funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September 23 at Holy Family Church in Rockland, taking into consideration the restrictions imposed due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers if you wish to make a donation in Mary's name, please choose a charity that is dear to your heart, or consider the Rockland Education Foundation, P.O. Box 764, Rockland, MA 02370.

To the entire Partridge Family.. my very deepest condolences to each and every one of you. Mary will always hold a special place in my heart. Living next door to you all was some of the happiest years of my life. Mary and Ernie had an abundance of patience with all of my curiosity in the backyards, and for that alone,. She should be up for sainthood! I giggle when I think about all of the times I would yell over to Mary (being about 4 or 5 years old) and she would wave like crazy and give the warmest smile and laughs back. Your family always treated us like family, and I will forever be so grateful for that. I am honored to have known Mary my entire life.. and will hold on to all of those wonderful memories.

Rest in the sweetest peace Mary. please give Ernie and Ellen a big hug for me!
