(Larson) Martel, 69, died peacefully on Monday, September 27, 2021 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, Belmont St. campus. She leaves her husband of 47 years, Joseph E. Martel of East Brookfield, two sons, Eric M.Martel of Worcester and Justin L. Martel of East Brookfield, one daughter, Lori Martel of Plymouth, five grandchildren, Skye, Maya, Layla, Levi, and Hylan, several nieces and nephews and a sister Karen E. Goulet of Worcester. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Edward E. and Ethel B.(Lundin) Larson. After graduation from David Prouty High School in Spencer, Susan began her work career as a secretary at the former Paul Revere Insurance Co. before settling down to start a family. She was a life partner and very committed to the well being of her family in every way. One of her passions was cooking and her baking specialty was apple pie which was her family and friend's favorite. She enjoyed family cookouts and pool parties and watching the Red Sox win one world series after another. Susan was an avid tennis player. She loved dogs and her dalmation "Snickers" who lived to the ripe old age of 13 and was a big fan of game shows like Let's Make a Deal, Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune and drama shows of the 80's like Dynasty and the Young and the Restless. Another passion for Susan was raising a vegetable garden each year and spending fun times with her best friends Elaine C., Carol, Paula, Joyce and Elaine L.. Her favorite foods were Friendly's restaurant (ice cream), Chinese food at Kahula Restaurant. Susan loved vacationing in Florida, Jamaica and at Dennis and Yarmouth Cape Cod with the family. She was described by those who loved her as being a calm, gracious, humble, loving mother who always had a warm, friendly smile on her face. Her music favorites ranged from the Moody Blues, Lady Gaga and Lionel Ritchie. Her special family traditions were centered around Sunday dinners, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter holidays. Visiting hours will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, October 23 in Callahan Fay Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester followed by a Memorial Service at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 695 Southbridge St., Worcester. In Lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Second Chance Shelter Animal Services Adoption Center, 111 Young Rd., East Brookfield, MA 01515 www.secondchanceanimals.org or American Cancer Society ,www.amp.cancer.org
