I was so sad to learn of Sam's passing. I met him when I started at Pfizer in 1999. We used to talk a lot in the OSP Control Room until he retired. I lost touch with him until 2013 when I started at Dealertrack and was surprised to see him!

He helped me learn a lot in my early Dealertrack days, and our cubicles were pretty close for a time. I respected his knowledge and lack of fear of speaking out, and I loved his funny comments (like which Monday of the week it was) and hearing about Barbara, his kids, and grandkids.

Sam, your family is on my prayer list. Rest in peace, buddy.

Sam was always one of my favorite co-workers. I didn’t get to see him often over the years since I’m based in VA however had many great phone conversations with him. It was always such a relief whenever I needed help & Sam answered the support call. My condolences to Barbara & family.

I worked with Sam for almost 12 years at Dealertrack. He was always a joy to talk to and was such a sweet man. He was sure to call me "Trouble" anytime I saw him which it made me smile every time I heard it. I will miss Sam and the joy he brought to our little work family. <3 Kimberly Lynn

I had the pleasure of knowing Sam for more than a decade. Sam would always make you smile. He always saw the best in people and in the situation. He didn't take life or work too seriously. We played a few rounds of golf together and share a few drinks at the 19th hole! I will surely miss him and will also miss seeing FLEENS pull into the parking lot at DealerTrack. Rest In Peace

I knew Sam from my young pre teen years his Mom Maggie and my Grandmother Carver lived on the same street in East New London I knew him as a thoughtful young guy and very respectful of others later in life I met his fiance Barbara and we worked in the same company and as circumstance would have it and I left Connecticut found out after a few years through Barbara that she and Sam had met. As it is really is a small world who would ever know she and Sam so many years later would connect I personally felt it was fate. Rest in Peace Dear Sam you have now joined your Mom, Dad and Uncles they truly were a close family and wonderful neighbors however that was the spirit of all who grew up in East New London (the title at times known as the neck) that being Harrison St, Tenth St and Winthrop St area was like a family when times were tough and neighbors there for one another if need be.Si glad I had the opportunity to reconnect with Dam thru my friend for years Barbara I'm am so sorry for everyone's loss and please accept my sincerest condolences Gid Bless

I worked with Sam for many years at TriVIN and eventually Dealertrack. Sam had great sense of humor and a tremendous amount of knowledge that he was happy to share with others. I will miss stopping by his desk for a quick story which more often then not, was about his family and grandchildren.
This knowledge sharing also took place on the golf course from holes 1-19. He was a great friend and coworker. My heart goes out to his family.

Family gives us the strength to move through our loss.
You can hold onto family when you feel weak and lost.
A family provides you a safe haven when sorrow strikes.
You can turn to family for comfort during times of sorrow.
A family provides hope in the face of sorrow.
Our beloved took pride in being part of a large family.
If life is what we make it and Sam made it memorable and full of love.
We say goodbye to our beloved family member and forever hold Sam in our hearts.

I had known and worked with Sam at Cox Automotive for close to 20 years. He was always a ray of sunshine and laughs on a gloomy day. Quick to make a joke and yet, the first one to have your back. He was well-liked by so many and I can truly say it was hard not to like him. You will be sadly missed, my friend. May you rest in peace.

I remember showing up to office for my shift before I would have to be on and stop and talk to him. Always enjoyed being able to talk to him first thing to see how his day was.

I met Sam in 2008 at Trivin he was in my eyes the wisest man in the room. His laugh is unmatched and I will always remember that and his smile. He was always so happy to share his knowledge and for that I am grateful. I returned to what is now Dealertrack in 2017 and was able to return the favor on many occasions. Sam loved his family and made it known. He was a great man and will be very missed. Sending so much love to his friends and family. SIP Fleens.

When I first started at Dealertrack in 2016, I sat in front of Sam. He welcomed me with warmth and open arms. One thing I learned from Sam is there are 5 Mondays in a week! Thoughts and prayers.

I sat next to Sam at Dealertrack for almost 3 years and enjoyed every minute. His witty comments, grumbly remarks about technology, and admiration for his children and grandchildren were my favorite parts. Sam would talk about Barbara daily and always bring home baked goods from the office to share with her. Sam was on my mind frequently after I left Dealertrack and I would check in often with colleagues to check on him. I will miss seeing his FLEENS liscense plate flying down the highway.

Barbara, Kids, Grandkids and Great Grandkids - you had a great man who was adored by so many. May the memories you have together live on in your heart forever.
