Claire G. (Butland) Polsey, 74 and a longtime Littleton resident passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on May 7, 2022. She was the wife of David K. Polsey. Claire was born in Boston July 18, 1947, a daughter to the late Harry and Lorraine (Gagne) Butland. She was raised in Somerville and later moved to Wakefield where she graduated from Wakefield High School. She spent several years as a wall paperer and as an administrative assistant in several law firms while attending Bentley University at night. In the mid-1980's while on a double chair lift in Nashoba Valley Ski Area Claire met David, and began a love story that would span over 33 years. The couple settled in Littleton where Claire worked alongside David in his business. Claire's most recent business venture was educating women on how to invest their money; a cause for which she was deeply involved through "Sisters Taking Stock" venture she created. While Claire was dedicated to her career, she always found time for her passions in life. Be it traveling, gardening or enjoying a cup of coffee with friends, Claire made sure to make the most of her time with friends and family. She was a friend to all and will be deeply missed. In addition to her husband, Claire is survived by her son Chris Ellis and his wife Natalie of Swampscott; Her step-daughter Kristy Polsey of Ayer; and Step-son David Polsey of Leominster. Claire is also survived by her siblings; Harry "Sonny" Butland and his wife Brenda of South Carolina and Deborah Dunn and her husband Jeff of NH and her niece Kelly Daly and Nephew Nick Butland as well four grandchildren; Layla, Reese, Daniel and Jack. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Claire for a period of visitation from 1:00pm until 4:00pm on Sunday May 15, 2022 in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton. A brief prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 4:00pm. Interment will be private. My condolences to Claires family. I know her from her favorite place in longboat key and spent sunsets with her sometimes at the beach. She was kind and generous and cheered her home with me many times. She was a fighter and will really be missed.

My best friend for more than 70 years. Where would I begin to tell the story of "Us". We were blessed to have such an amazing and adventurous childhood. Then came the marriages and the babies and suddenly it was a new chapter filled with anxiety and fears, praying that we were doing right by our children. Then suddenly and without warning they grew up and they had children and we were confused as to how this happened. This meant that we were Grandmothers. How can this be when in our hearts and our minds we were still 16 ? But we are not 16 anymore. We are 74 and we are old ladies. We still have so much fun and appreciate so much in life like the sand and the sea and the birds and the trees and flowers and good food and fresh air and compost
. We still sing and we laugh and drink wine and reminise about our childhood, our parents and Buddy and all of our crazy adventures, many of which remain a secret between us. Who will I share these things with now that you have left? I was not ready for you to leave. I was not ready.

My best friend for more than 70 years. Where would I even begin to tell the story of "Us". We were blessed to have such an amazing and adventurous childhood. It was a different world back then. It was safe. We were free to walk, bike or take the bus wherever we wanted to go and we did just than and with reckless abandon.

Then came the marriages and the babies and suddenly it was a new chapter filled with anxiety and fears, praying that we were doing right by our children. Then suddenly and without warning our babies

grew up and they had children of their own and we were Grandmothers. How can this be?In our hearts and our minds we were still 16 ? But we are not 16 anymore. We are 74 and we are old ladies. But we are blessed to still have so much fun and appreciate so much in life like the sand and the sea and the "boodies" and the trees and flowers and good food and fresh air and a ripe compost pile.
We still sing and we laugh and drink our wine and reminisce about our childhood, our parents and Buddy and all of our crazy antics, many of which remain a secret between us. Who will I share these things with now that there is no "Us". I was not ready for you to leave. I was not ready.

Claire was a friend, that I met through an exercise class. I then joined the sisters in taking stock and learned quite a bit. Our friendship spanned 20+ years, she will truly be missed.

Dear Debbie & to Claire’s entire family,
I’m so sorry to hear of Claire’s recent passing. I still recall with fondness the several trips made to Claire’s home that I took with Carl & Debbie many years ago. Claire was a joy to be around, she was a great hostess, & we always had such a wonderfully fun time on those weekends. My deepest condolences to you all during this especially difficult time. I wish you peace and strength in the coming days. God bless.

It is with deep sadness that I learn of Claire's passing. She was such a lady. We'd meet up in Fl I felt honored that she'd drive to Marco Island and we'd have dinner. I visited in LBK as well. She will be greatly missed.
