William J. Sanford

Sanford William J. (Bill) of Northeast Philadelphia, passed away on May 17th, 2022 at the age of 73. The loving son of the late Catherine Slinka (nee Laverty) and the late William Sanford, the beloved husband of Kathryn (nee Becker) and devoted father to his two daughters Krista Moffatt (Vince) and Lauren Kilcoyne (Kelly). Proud pop-pop of Gia, Luke, Sydney, Paige, Ryan, and Connor. Dear brother of Maureen Muhlberger (Gary), Diane Stinziani (the late Nick), Jim Sanford, Cathy Puzycki (Richard), and Barb Scanlan (Bob). Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bill was a '66 graduate of Father Judge High School. He then went on to proudly serve our country as a Marine in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Bill worked for many years as a stockbroker at Janney Montgomery Scott, and also tended bar at Rosewood Caterers, McNally's, Fluke's, and McGeehan's. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Division 39. Bill loved life, his girls, a good party, Philadelphia sports teams, traveling, and summers in Wildwood and Ocean City. Throughout his life, you could often find him cooking, golfing, and fishing. He truly lived life to the fullest and cherished every moment with his wonderful family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to Bill's Life Celebration on Monday, May 23rd, from 5 – 8 pm at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, and on Tuesday, May 24th, from 9:15 – 10:15 am at St. Matthew's Church. Bill's funeral mass will begin at 10:30 AM and his interment will be held privately.
