Paul Baty Obituary

Reverend Paul J. Baty, 85, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord he so faithfully loved and served on the morning of Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Henry Community Health in New Castle. Paul was born November 30, 1940, in New Castle, Indiana, to the late Charles E. Baty

and Anna (Bartley) Baty. A 1958 graduate of Mt. Summit High School, Paul proudly served his country for four years in the United States Marine Corps alongside his brothers. While in the military, Paul attended Santa Ana College in California, where he studied data processing analytics and received high marks in his classes.

In July 1957, at the McCreary County Fair, Paul met the love of his life, Parma Lou Baty. They were united in marriage on June 11, 1961, and shared 64 beautiful years together. Their marriage was centered on faith, family, and a deep commitment to serving the Lord. Paul devoted his life to ministry. He pastored 11th Street Christian Church for 15 years before he and Parma attended 9th Street Church of God for many years. For the past 14 years, he faithfully served as pastor of Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, preaching his final sermon on Sunday, February 22, 2026. He was a past member of the Kentucky Christian conference and helped evangelize many churches over the years in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. His passion for sharing the Gospel and shepherding others defined his life's work.

In addition to his ministry, Paul retired in 1996 after a 30-year career with New Castle Chrysler Corporation, where he served as Receiving Coordinator. Known for his sharp memory, steady leadership, and thoughtful manner, he earned the respect of coworkers and friends alike. As a retiree, he remained active as a member and officer of UAW Local #371 and was honored with a community service award. He was also a proud member of American Legion Post #137. Paul cherished time spent outdoors fishing and camping, and he loved traveling with his family.

Together, they visited nearly every state, creating treasured memories and planning adventures that brought great joy to his life.

Those left to cherish Paul's memory include his beloved wife, Parma Lou (Smith) Baty of New Castle; his children, Angela (Scott) Curtis of Villaridge, MO, Vanessa (Phil) Gard of Mooreland, IN, and Laura Heath of New Castle, IN; a sister, Mary Sheridan of New Castle; six grandchildren, Kirsten, John Paul, Ashli, Bays, Andrew, and Dylan; eight great-grandchildren, Grace, Ava Lou, Gabe, Owen, Dakota, Maddox, Jaeda, Bays II, and one great-great grandson, Hudson.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his five brothers Ralph, Thomas, Charles, William, and Joseph Baty; two sisters, Bernice Hamilton and Alama Franklin, and one great-grandchild, Dominic Lippmann.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Elder Dennis Greene and Rev. Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Christian Cemetery in Springport with Military Honors.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the funeral home.

Paul's legacy is one of unwavering faith, devoted service, and steadfast love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
