Ringwald founded the Fulton Street Jazz Band, playing piano. He was a co-founder of the Sacramento Jazz Festival in 1974 as well as performing there. Blind since his teens, Ringwald played in other bands including Sugar Willie and the Cubes, The Great Pacific Jazz Band, and The BoonDockers. Ringwald often accompanied his daughter, Molly, as she sang. She wrote his obituary, featured in the Sacramento Bee.
