Animation career
Bell got his start in animation in the 1950s, working on the TV cartoon “Matty’s Funnies with Beany & Cecil.” He would go on to work on many other animated classic for TV, including episodes of “Tom and Jerry,” “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe,” “Ghostbusters,” “She-Ra: Princess of Power,” and “BraveStarr.” Bell broke into feature-length animation while working for the revered Bakshi’s 1978 adaptation of “The Lord of the Rings.” He worked on later Bakshi movies “American Pop,” “Hey Good Lookin’,” and “Fire and Ice.” After working as assistant animator on the groundbreaking “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” Bell moved to Disney, where he worked on Disney renaissance-era films including “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Pocahantas,” and “Hercules.” His last credit was on Disney’s “Tarzan.”
