Power Rangers and MMA

Frank was cast in “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” as Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger, who was originally a villain but then joined forces with the other Power Rangers. In season two, he became the White Ranger, the team leader. One of the most popular “Power Rangers” characters, Frank remained with the cast after the show’s original three-season run, playing Tommy in later Power Rangers series including “Power Rangers Zeo” and “Power Rangers Turbo.” His character became the Red Zeo Ranger, Red Turbo Ranger, and finally the Black Dino Ranger. A martial artist, Frank created Toso Kune Do, a hybrid of karate and other martial arts. In 2009, he began competing in mixed martial arts, and he fought in a number of bouts.

Frank on the popularity of “Power Rangers”

“I didn’t do something to make it big, but I did it because I was passionate about something. I was only hired for like ten episodes, and I didn’t care, because I loved it! I wanted to act, I thought it’d be great to be a superhero, and I just stuck with it!” —from a 2014 interview for ScienceFiction.com
