Animation Legend
Jules Bass worked for an advertising agency before he became involved in animation with Arthur Rankin Jr (1924-2014). With Rankin/Bass, the pair collaborated on producing and directing many beloved holiday specials in the 1960s and 1970s including “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.” Outside of holiday specials, they produced the hit cartoon “ThunderCats” and “The Jackson 5ive” animated series. They won a Peabody Award in 1978 for their animated version of “The Hobbit.” The company was known for their stop-motion and hand drawn animation.
