Manuel Ojeda (1940–2022), Mexican actor starred in “Romancing the Stone”

Manuel Ojeda was one of the most popular actors in Mexico who is known to U.S. audiences for his role as the villain Colonel Zolo in “Romancing the Stone.       

Legendary Mexican Actor  

Manuel Ojeda started his acting career in the theater, making his film debut in “Calzonzin Inspector” in 1974 and his television debut two years later. He went on to become one of Mexico’s most popular telenovela actors who played multiple roles in “Mujer, Casos de la Vida Real.” On the big screen, he starred in “Un Mexicano Mas” and “Canoa.” For American audiences, he is best remembered for playing villain Colonel Zolo in the popular 1984 action-adventure film “Romancing the Stone,” which starred Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.
