Robert Logan’s legacy
Robert Logan, often called Bob, was pursuing baseball at the University of Arizona when an agent from Warner Bros. saw him and coaxed him into the entertainment business. His first role would instantly be a memorable one: slang-slinging parking attendant J.R. Hale in the long-running TV detective series, “77 Sunset Strip.” He appeared in 72 episodes of the show.
In 1965 and ’66, Logan appeared as Jericho Jones in a dozen episodes of “Daniel Boone,” a wilderness adventure that would set the stage for another role for which he’d become well-known: Skip Robinson, the father in the “Wilderness Family” movie series. The first film, 1975’s “The Adventures of the Wilderness Family,” spawned two sequels, ending with 1979’s “Mountain Family Robinson.” The movies explored the adventures of a family living in the mountains.
Logan’s acting work slowed down after the “Wilderness” series, at which point he focused on writing screenplays, exploring the outdoors, and raising his family. His final role was as Col. Lawrence G. Calcan in the 1997 film, “Redboy 13.”
