Talina Fernández (1944–2023), television host and presenter

Talina Fernández was an actress and television presenter best known for hosting a wide array of shows on Mexican TV, including awards shows, telethons, and reality TV productions. 

Talina Fernández’s legacy 

Born in Mexico City, Fernández earned her degree in nursing but transitioned into acting in 1972 when she got a role in the telenovela, “Las gemelas.” Other roles soon followed (“Caras y gestos,” “Muchachita,” “Tenías que ser tú”), and the screen quickly became her home. By the 1980s, she was among the most recognizable faces on Mexican TV. 

Fernández thrived as a host and presenter. Her lively demeanor earned her the nickname “La dama del buen decir,” or “The Lady of Good Saying.” She hosted almost every type of program on TV, from awards shows to beauty pageants, sports events, telethons, reality television, and more. Highlights including the Mexican version of “Big Brother,” four Fundación Teletón broadcasts, and the regional broadcast of the Academy Awards. Fernández also took part in several documentaries. 

In recent years, she embraced new media and launched a YouTube channel, where she conducted interviews and shared stories about her life.
