Vince Dooley (1932–2022), legendary former Georgia football coach

Vince Dooley was the winningest football coach at the University of Georgia who led them to a National Championship in 1980.  

Georgia Football Legend 

Vince Dooley played college football at Auburn University and began his coaching career in 1956 at the University of Georgia as the quarterback coach.  He took over as head coach at Georgia in 1964 and stepped down following the 1988 season. He became the athletic director at Georgia while coaching in 1979 and remained the AD until he retired in 2004. As a coach, he led Georgia to the National Championship title in 1980 with an undefeated season that finished with a Sugar Bowl win over Notre Dame. That team was led by running back Hershel Walker. He won six SEC titles, went to 20 bowl games and finished with over 200 wins at Georgia and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1994.
