Dylan Benson is beginning a new life with his infant son and saying goodbye to his wife at the same time.
Iver Benson is a miracle.
In February 2014 the baby boy was delivered by emergency cesarean section in Victoria, British Columbia. His father Dylan welcomed him to the world.
Sadly, baby Iver will never know his mother, Robyn, who died before he was born.
After Robyn suffered a sudden brain hemorrhage in December 2013, she was declared brain dead. But doctors worked to keep her body vital long enough to give her unborn child a change at life.
That chance came in early February. As Robyn’s 22-week-pregnant body began to fail, doctors feared they would lose Iver unless they acted quickly. The surgery proved successful, and now proud father Dylan is beginning a new life with baby Iver and saying goodbye to his wife at the same time. Dylan calls Robyn “the strongest and most wonderful woman I have ever met.”
