I met Cabral when I worked at W.H. Smith. Hi Father was a partner with the company that I worked for. I was impressed that he had his son working the business as an intern in several departments. Cabral was trying to learn the business from the ground up. He was so friendly, and was a hard worker.

To say Atlanta has lost a jewel is an understatement. The past 2 days have been really tough for me. We have lost what I believe to be a genius in our own time. Cabral Franklin was more than a great political strategist. He was a good man, a good father, a good husband, a good citizen, a good son, a good brother, a good friend, a good person! And let me add a good resident of DeKalb. Yes, he lived in Atlanta/DeKalb! Many people don't know but the Franklin's have been my political rock, from Fundraising to Political Strategy they have been there with me every step of the way. I made very few decisions without the insight and wisdom of Cabral and the few times I didn't, I came to quickly regret it. He was my friend and brother. Some may think that the strength of a man is measured by his money, size, build or physique,
No the strength of a man is determined by his character, drive, heart and passion, the intangibles that make him unique. The strength of a man at times may be hard to see, when you grow up in this world without role models you don't always know what man to be.
There are so many obstacles and choices in life, being a father, finding a job, choosing a good wife.
When we were young we were taught that you are what you eat, when we mature we understand that you are what you think.
The strength of a man means falling down and getting back up, working hard and trying to maintain, while dealing with life adversities and being careful not to complain. I've come to realize that being a man is not about what you say but what you do, Learning to have faith and leaning on the Lord to get you through. Times like this are hard to bear, but I can hear my friend say I'm ok now, don't worry and don't despair. So it doesn't matter how many times in life we fail, I will always know that the definition of a strong man was my friend Cabral.

He was warm and friendly and just so smart as a political strategist. A bright young person with an incredible future should never die before living a long, meaningful life. I have had the pleasure and honor of working with both Cabral and Candice on several occasions. Both are great people and great at our mutually chosen profession.
Cabral and I shared an office for a few months toward the end of the 2014 campaign, and he was always both a great asset to our efforts and a pleasure to spend time with. I already miss him.
