Carl Orban Obituary

Carl Orban, age 78, passed away on March 19, 2011.

Born in Akron to the late, Carl and Mary (nee Somody) Orban, Carl was president of Green High School Class of 1950. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954, he served in Korea. After his honorable discharge, he was employed at B.F. Goodrich for two years, became an alumnus of The University of Akron, and retired from Chrysler Corporation after 35 years.

Beloved husband of 54 years to Verna (nee Veronica June Soss); dearest father of Michael (Terri) Orban, Diane (Jim) Forcina, Lora (Tom) Oborn, Susan (James) Habyan, and Claudia (Christopher) Drum; grandfather of seven; great-grandfather of three; brother of Nancy Orban, Marybeth Watson (deceased), Linda Kuchenbrod, and Rose (Mark) Forsyth; he will be missed by all.

Cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (Kent Rd. at Rt. 91) followed by a memorial service at 7. Inurnment and military honors will be rendered on Thursday at 2 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman (assemble at 1:45 at the cemetery gate). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to CrossRoads Hospice at (3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Uniontown, Ohio 44685) or the National Parkinson Foundation (1501 NW 9th Ave., Miami, FL 33136-1494).
