Debbie Ford Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 19, 2013.
SAN DIEGO (AP) - The bestselling author of the self-help book "The Dark Side of the Light Chasers" has died in San Diego. Debbie Ford was 57.

A family spokeswoman says Ford died Sunday in her home after a long battle with cancer.

"The Dark Side of the Light Chasers" spawned a self-help enterprise for Ford. The 1998 book aimed to help readers overcome their darker side.

Her sister, Arielle, said in a statement that the author wanted to help people break free from their emotional baggage and fear.

Ford wrote eight more books, led workshops and hosted TV and radio shows related to that topic. She often shared her battle with drug addiction, divorce and other personal struggles in her work.

She is also survived by her mother, son and brother.

My grief only just began last night. I finished your amazing, enlightening guide book and Googled to find out more about you and hopefully see what other resources you had produced that I could get my hands on. Now, as I see all the beautiful images of you, I am saddened by what I feel is my own loss. I’m so thankful that you left us the body of work that you did. It is truly a legacy that will live on as long as there are humans hiding from themselves here on earth. My most sincere condolences to friends and family who still mourn such an incredible loss of such a beautiful soul far, far too soon.

Even though I had first heard of you a few years ago I didn’t start reading your books and watching your video until now. I feel so heart broken that you left us so soon. I have also struggled with addictions and self destructive habits. Your books have given me a reason to live again after many years of living in negativity. God Bless you Debbie.

An amazing, beautiful light-filled being... helped me via her Daily Om "Overcoming Self-Sabotage" course, which was priced fairly enough that many many people could afford it, and thus have access to it. Grateful.

I googled you cause I've just started reading your book. The dark side of light chasers. And this saddens me that you've moved on to another realm. I would have loved to have met you in person. Your books are still changing lives and forever will☺

I used to share my poetry with Debbie & Wayne on facebook back in 2012. Also with Louise Haye the owner of Hay House. All 3 have gone on away from the form of human flesh. I knew Debbie had passed on but never looked it up until today, while watching Wayne on youtube. Debbie was an inspiration & a light while the darkness of illness had taken hold of me. Of course her spirit lives on, we don't know where but the Bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. God Bles to her son & sister & all who are hurt by her absence in their lives.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the death of your dear love one. “And no resident will say: I am sick…” Isa 33:24. This is a promise God has made known in his word. Perhaps one day in the divine future you or I may see again those fallen from our lives due to a sickness or illness that led to an untimely death. Prayers go out to the surviving family and friends may the God of comfort continue to bless you and yours.

Dear Debbie ...... you feel so close to me in death.....as if you are talking right into my ear...... telling me.... i can make it..... i can be the person i was born to be.....i can be fearless and free.......i can release my shame and forgive myself..........
such simple concepts, so difficult to learn.......but you continue to inspire and encourage, even after your passing ...........
strange how death can make someones brilliance even brighter!
Your soul is vast Debbie...... this sad day is in fact a joyous one as your spirit has just grown exponentially making your spiritual teachings even more powerful. Now, you are magically available ,energetically, to those who call upon you for guidance. Simply put..... you are an Angel, Debbie.
Thank you for your love, care and guidance. Yours was a life truly lived.
I hope one day, I can feel that way about my own.

Blessed Debbie, As you bask in God's light, you are now an even Brighter part of the Light we chase. Knowing this, however, still doesn't make us miss you any less. But because of the things you said on Super Soul Sunday, I am seeing a doctor to get some things checked out - I turn 57 this year...... My Love and condolences to your family and friends.

I send my deepest condolences to Debbie's family at this time of grief. Debbie was an amazing person and spiritual mentor/teacher. I watched one of her videos called The Shadow Effect. She was wake-up call for me to look at my fears and emotions. When I was heard she had passed I was almost tears thinking about how her family and knowing she is gone. But Debbie is now left this life and transitioned into a new life and has re birthed. She will sadly missed and always remembered as humble and loving person

I've known Debbie since we were children. I stand now in awe of what a gorgeous woman she grew in to be. She was inspired, joyful, and genuinely connected to a Truth of who she was meant to be, and how she was meant to move through this world. Such gifts that she gave so generously, starting with that smile!

I said good-bye to her in an amazing dream last night, and felt as though she was very present with me. What a joy! I needed to say some things that were unfortunately left unsaid in life, ...and yet, amidst this bitter-sweet farewell, I was left with the prevailing sense that she was still very much amongst us. Lucky us! Love, Strength, Courage, and Peace of Heart to her lovely family & dear friends. - Ronnie Sepielli
