When Theresa was born, I was there. She was named after me because her mother and I were such good friends. I remember vividly that we'd put her in the laundry basket to sleep, since I didn't have a crib at my house. She was a smart, beautiful, loving person whose passing has left me deeply saddened for her and her family, whom I love, though we are far apart. We are blessed with memories of her life which will stay with us forever.

My thoughts and prayers to the Flannery family, I am so sorry for your loss. I have not lived in Richmond for years now, but I knew Theresa and to me she will always be the high school girl ready to take on the world with her bright smile and contagious laugh. She was my friend in high school and she was such a good friend to me as well as many others.

This has taken awhile, it's been rough to deal with. Theresa was one of my best friends and was always there for me, which makes it worse, i feel i should have been there for her. I feel for Maggie and David... there are no words. It's all prayers, and the knowledge that one day Theresa will be standing there waiting for us. One day. I miss you Theresa. Thoughts, prayers and love to Maggie, David and family. Love you T.

My deepest sympathies to the family. I kept Nicholas in my home after school for several months during this past school year and he is such a sweet boy. I know Theresa struggled and she was constantly in my prayers. I know she is at peace now. She was an incredible mother who carried a much heavier load than any person should have to. My prayers now turn to healing and comfort to the family. Especially sweet little Nicholas.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. This does come as a significant loss to the world, but I am relieved because I am certain that you are not struggling or suffering anymore. Rest in peace.

Dave and Maggie, We read the news in the paper today about Theresa---it was crushing. To hear that Theresa is no longer with us and to imagine the unbelievable pain it brings to the family is heartbreaking.Although we had not seen her since she was about 9 ,we will never forget her beauty, kindness, and bubbly zest for life. Please note that even though our lives took different paths you were never forgotten and your pain is our pain.We love you and keep you in our prayers . To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I was in school with Theresa from grade school through high school. I had lost touch with her over the years, but was deeply saddened to here of her passing. From all of the stories I have read about her service, I can say that she was a true American hero that served her country well and made her family very proud. My most heart-felt sympathies go out to her family and friends and most of all to her little boy. Thank you for your service Theresa!
