Thomas Gachi Obituary

GACHI Thomas Dimitri ( Mike ) Gachi, age 86, beloved husband of Florence Lupu Gachi, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 1, 2011. Born in Bridgeport, July 5, 1924 to the late Dimitri and Athina Memu Gachi, Mike was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. He was an Army Veteran, serving during World War II. He later went on to own the A & T Appliance Service until his retirement. In his youth, Mike was a talented pitcher, playing for Bassick High School and later for local teams. He was a longtime member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church and the St. Dimitrie Seniors Group. Mike cherished the times that he spent with his family and many friends, he enjoyed fishing, reading and had an ongoing thirst for learning. In addition to his loving wife Florence, Mr. Gachi is survived by his son, Nicholas Gachi and his wife Stacey of Stratford, a daughter, Mary Ellen Gachi of Bridgeport, a brother Andrew Gachi and his wife Carol as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Yeotsas. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 pm at St. Dimitrie Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton, with the trisagion service at 6pm. Funeral services will held on Wednesday, January 5 at St. Dimitrie Church at 11a.m. with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery with full Military Honors.
