Anthony McElroy Obituary
born Oct. 17, 1965 in Canton, Ohio to James and Elizabeth McElroy left this earthly body Thursday Aug. 21, 2014. He graduated from Timken Sr. High School in 1985. Anthony had awesome work ethics that allowed him to give 150% of himself no matter the job! His co-workers @ CTCCC will miss his wisdom, sincerity, humility and love for his job and the people he cared for, prayed for and fought for. Anthony loved sports of any kind. Including fishing! He thought he was in the pros!
Preceded in death by the following; father; James F. McElroy, son; Marcus McElroy, brother; Terry McElroy, sister; Clara Walker, best friend Vanessa K McElroy and father-in-law; the Late Bishop Ralph Byrd Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory to the following; wife Karen Byrd McElroy; mother; Elizabeth McElroy of the home; mother -in-law; Sr. Martha Byrd; daughter Stephanie West, all of Canton, Ohio, uncles, Enoch 'Boo Boo' (Sonja) Howard of Columbus, Ohio, Curtis (Diane) McElroy of Kent, Ohio, Stanley Howard of Goodyear, Ariz.; Aunts, Deidre Howard Hughes, Nell Hughley both of Columbus, Ohio, brothers; James Chum (Ana) McElroy of West Covina, Calif., Larry (Paulette) McElroy, sister; Linda Jean (Jesse) Clark, brother-in-laws; Elder Ollie 'Buddy' Walker, Kevin Byrd, Tobie Byrd (Missy) all of Canton, Ohio and bishop Ralph Byrd Jr. (Jessica) of Lorain ,Ohio and Twila Byrd of Canton, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special nieces Tammy Swint and Erika McElroy and the Greater Bethel Apostolic Church family along with Pastor Ollie 'Buddy' Walker in Mineral City, Ohio and the church family.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 at Greater Bethel Apostolic Church 2335 15th St SW, Canton, Ohio 44706. Services will begin at 6pm.

Healing doesn´t even begin to tell the story of how he saved each other! May 23, 2003 we went on a date and we stayed on that date 11 years! Everyday was not 100% and there were some -99.9, but God! I thought you were my gift, but you were a heart to many, especially young men and women that never knew their worth! I released you back to our creator and thank you for loving me, as "spoiled" as I was! You helped make me that way too!

I come back to this place from time to time and it pains me a little less each time. You were my strength, hope, lover, friend, prayer partner, traveling buddy, food taster, baby-sitter, taxi driver, dr., lawyer, grounds keeper, car detailer, janitor, heart keeper, comedian, reason for living and bcuz of your big heart and how you loved me, I will continue to stop by from time to time! This seems so surreal. I worked with Mr. McElroy at CTCC in dorm staff, prior to my departure from there at the end of July. His laugh was as big as his heart, and he would come in every morning playing the "Happy" song as loud as it'd go on his phone. I'm still in disbelief. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, church family, friends, co-workers, and those whose lives he touched on a daily basis. Rest in Peace Mac and let the warmth of your smile be felt when we all look to the heavens above.

Gone but not forgotten were the words Elder Tony spoke to me when we lost one of his best friends and my long time companion and friend, he since that time had sent a message every morning to encourage me! So I say to the family, He's gone but never forgotten! We love you all and Tony will be missed dearly!

Bro. Anthony was much loved and appreciated during his time as Staff Minister at Christ Apostolic Church in Mineral City. Bro. Anthony came to us several months ago but it's as if he has always been a part of us. So very thankful for the time God gave him to us. Bro. Anthony preached his last sermon just a few weeks ago and he talked about knowing when to serve and when to worship. A power packed and heartfelt message. Will be forever grateful for his ministering spirit!
