Eugene Matlock

MATLOCK, Eugene Eugene Ward Matlock, 74, of North Charleston, a retired US Navy Veteran, died Friday at a North Charleston hospital. The funeral will be at 3 p.m., Tuesday at the Macedonia Christian Church. Burial, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Matlock was born October 6, 1930 in Sharon, Tennessee; a son of Isaac T. Matlock and Wyola Ward Matlock. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion. He was a graduate of the University of San Francisco. He was a retired Mare Island Shipyard employee and a retired teacher with Vallejo Adult School. Surviving are his wife, Alfreida Gaskins Matlock of North Charleston; son, George L. Matlock of Pleasanton, CA; two daughters, Mary Jane Miles of Chula Vista, CA and Belinda S. Small of Eureka, CA; brother, Vernon Matlock of Martin, TN; sister, Shirlee R. Provencher of Montgomery, AL; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Macedonia Christian Church from 2 o'clock until the hour of service on Tuesday, May 17, 2005.
