Hood, age 50, beloved husband of Donna, nee Baker; loving father of Cory; devoted son of Charles (the late Dorothy); dear brother of Charles (Marianne) and Thomas (Judy); fond uncle of Michael, Brian, Laura, Daniel and Jeffrey; caring Master of Garfield, Edgar, Simba and Pantera. Memorial Visitation Tuesday, 4 to 9 p.m. at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E. Irving Park Rd. (at Prospect), Itasca. Service 8 p.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Neuroncology Research, Dr. Paleologos, Kellogg at Evanston Northwestern Hospital, 2650 Ridge Ave., Evanston, IL 60201-9945. For funeral information, call 630-250-8588.

One of my best friends is now gone but the last years of his life were spent trying to continually make himself a better person. I will truly miss him but his words will always be with me. I thank God for putting John in my life now and for the rest of my days.
