RICHARD RIFKIND Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 8, 2019.
RIFKIND--Richard A. The Winston Foundation mourns the passing of Director Emeritus and former President, Dr. Richard A. Rifkind, M.D., father of Director Barbara Rifkind. Richard's lifetime commitment to philanthropy in support of the arts, humanities and sciences was evidenced by his vision and leadership at the Foundation. As Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer of the Sloan Kettering Institute, Dr. Rifkind championed research and initiatives that took medical achievement to new heights, and established New York City's leadership as a collaborative medical science center. To his wife Carole and the entire Rifkind family, the board extends its sincere condolences. Richard's passion, humanity, and partnership will be sorely missed by so many. Lauri Levitt Friedland, President Jan Krukowski, Director Arthur Levitt, Jr, Director Emeritus

Im sorry to hear of your significant loss. Your fond memories should always bring smiles to your faces and comfort to your hearts. Please allow the god of all comfort, as mentioned in Isaiah 61:1,2, to aid you through this most difficult time.

Richard was a fine scientist, a superb administrator, and an example to all of what a full mind and great heart can produce in this world.
