Edward J. Enright, of Carmel, NY, died peacefully at his home with his wife by his side on February 17, 2021. He was 86 years old.
Born on June 1, 1934 in Bronx, NY son of the late Edward and Mabel (Smith) Enright. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and attended Westchester Community College. Edward honorably served in the U.S. Army between 1955-1957.
On April 23, 1960 he married the love of his life Sarah M. Feighan at St. Francis de Chantal, Bronx, NY. He and Sally enjoyed 60 years of memories together.
Ed was a firefighter with the FDNY for 15 years before retiring. Prior to joining the FDNY he was a NYC police offers for 5 years. He was a family man, never missing a football or basketball game of his sons. His grandchildren were an especially important part of his life. He enjoyed skiing, sailing at the lake house and spending summers in Cape Cod. Sally and Ed enjoyed many vacations together, especially cruising. Mr. Enright and Sally were members of St. James 'The Apostle' Church in Carmel.
Mr. Enright is survived by loving wife Sally, his children; Edward P. Enright and his wife Beth of Poughkeepsie, NY, Peter Enright and his wife Susan of Danbury, CT, and Mary Ann Enright of Patterson, NY, his 5 grandchildren; Austin, Monica, Collin, Brendan, Alyssa, and his sister Blanche. He was predeceased by his sister Marguerite (Peggy) Scaglione.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 24, 2021 at 10 am at St. James 'The Apostle' Church, Carmel, NY. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 23, 2021 from 4pm-6pm at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY. Due to COVID-19 there is limited capacity at the funeral home, you may be asked to wait outside. Masks must be worn while in the funeral home.
