Lia Nassi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 4 to Jan. 6, 2019.
Lia Nassi

Peacefully passed away at the age of 89 on December 30, 2018. Born in Porcari (Lucca) Italy on August 5, 1929 to Amedeo and Ida Del Carlo. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1968 with her late husband Giovanni, surviving son Dante, daughter Monica and her late sister Sira and bother-in-law Enrico Ghelardi.
After coming to the U.S., she was offered a job at I. Magnin's in Union Square in SF. Lia had a natural gift for sewing, she excelled in her work and got promoted quickly. Lia had a special touch with her sewing, her customers loved her work and she was recognized with many letters of appreciation over the years.
Her passions were family, cooking, gardening, sewing and her grandchildren. Nonna Lia was the most amazing grandmother to Stefanie, Kristin, Ryan, Dominic and Valentina. She helped take care of all of them growing up, showing them unconditional love and feeding them the best food especially her lasagna! There is no love like Nonna's.
We will be forever grateful for her life spent with us and she will be extremely missed by all her surviving family and friends here and in Italy. Forever in our hearts!
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, January 10, 2019 beginning at 4:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM at the Chapel of the Highlands, 194 Millwood Drive in Millbrae. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Saint Robert's Church, 1380 Crystal Springs Rd. in San Bruno. Committal to follow at The Italian Cemetery in Colma.
Donations in Mrs. Nassi's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.

Dear Nassi Family,
We're all so sorry to hear of Lia's passing. She lived next door to my mother a while. They would share stories and dessert! Rest In Peace Lia

Warm regards,
Marie Rohilaht and family
