Aberdeen - Gale E. Kimball, 62, of Aberdeen, passed from this earth at his home on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1015 N. Hwy. 281, with Rev. Tony Haglund officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Britton City Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen. Funeral home visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be for one hour before services at the church. Gale E. Kimball was born July 20, 1943, in Aberdeen, S.D. He attended school in the Frederick-Hecla area and graduated from Hecla High School in 1962. On June 23, 1966, Gale married Linda Bauer in Britton, S.D. He and Linda had two children, Teresea and Greg. They lived in Columbia where Gale worked for the Farmers Union Co-op. In 1970, he and the family moved to Aberdeen. Gale worked for Liebelt Homes for nine years. Gale also owned a heating and air conditioning service. He worked in the North Dakota oil fields for two years. For over 20 years, Gale has worked as a shop foreman and transport driver for Brick Propane in Aberdeen. In 2002 he was presented with the American Trucking Association Million Mile Safety Award for outstanding performance as a professional driver. Gale enjoyed life. He enjoyed creating, woodworking and mechanics. He loved spending time laughing, sharing, and working with his wife and life long friend, Linda. He had a passion for antique tractors by rebuilding them, repairing them and pulling them. Gale was instrumental in organizing the Brown County Old Time Tractor Pulling Association. He served as past president, vice president and secretary. Not only did he enjoy announcing for area tractor pulls, he truly appreciated the many friends who also shared in the events. His grandchildren made him smile. He spent much of his time bragging about their accomplishments and adventures. Gale will be missed by his family and friends. His memory lives on with his wife, Linda, of Aberdeen; daughter, Teresea (Pat) Olson-Neary of Glendive, Mont.; son, Greg Kimball of Aberdeen; granddaughters, Rikki, Kasi and Lacey Olson; grandson Tayton Olson; his mother, Clara Kimball of Hecla, S.D.; mother-in-law, Delores Bauer of Britton, S.D.; nieces, Treva Smart-Anderson of Milford, Iowa, and Tyranny Smart of Britton, S.D. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Kimball and his grandparents. Casket bearers will be Alan Dixon, Ron Beckler, Ed Neff, Dick Neitzel, Mike Tofteland and Ray Schmidt.
