Anthony D. Jenkins, 38, dedicated son and loyal friend passed away Friday, March 18, 2016. Anthony was known for his effervescent personality, sense of style, his wit and intellect. He had a love for the law and was committed to advocating for minority youth to seek higher education. He received Christ at an early age at New Salem Baptist Church in his hometown of Hazlehurst, Mississippi. He attended New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church in Albuquerque, NM., and was the Admissions Officer at the University of New Mexico School of Law.

Anthony received his bachelor's degree from Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS majoring in Political Science and Pre-Law studies, a master's degree in sports administration from Ball State University in Muncie, IN, and his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, IN. He was an active member of Iota Psi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in Albuquerque, NM.

Anthony is survived by his mother, Mrs. Beatrice J. Porter (Matthew Porter, Sr.); his siblings, Sharon Perryman (Donnie Perryman), Sarah Porter, Shawanda Porter, Stacey Porter, Michael Porter;, Matthew Porter, Jr., Ramonda Copeland, and Christopher Rae. He also leaves aunties, Joanne Clay and husband, Jimmie, Linda Jenkins, Dorothy Jenkins, Anita Jenkins; and his nieces and nephews in Hazlehurst, MS. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his special friend, Sonya L. Smith and friends, Jeffery Dubinski-Neessen, Heather Harrigan, Trish Ulibarri, and a host of close friends and people whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Rae; grandparents, Johnie and Ethel Jenkins and Jack and Leathea Rae; and his uncles, Artis Jenkins, Melvin Jenkins, and Larry Jenkins of Hazlehurst, MS.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. â€" 6:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service,6:00 p.m. at FRENCH â€" Lomas in Albuquerque. A homegoing service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 1:00 p.m. at New Life Cathedral of Worship in Hazlehurst, MS.
