Mary Schock Obituary

Wasilla resident Mary Arlene Schock, 76, died of cancer July 31, 2008, at Alaska Regional Hospital.
"All four of her children were present when she passed on to be with the Lord," her family wrote.
A service for Mary will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alaska Heritage Memorial Chapel, 1015 S. Check St. Mary was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Gorham, Maine, to Alfred and Florence Wilder.
While living in Maine, she attended school in Gorham, graduating from Gorham High School. After high school, she married and started a family.
In 1965, the family moved to Alaska, arriving on the Fourth of July.
In Alaska she lived in Eagle River, Anchorage and finally Wasilla. She spent her working career at Carrs Quality Centers, starting as a cashier. She was a customer service manager when she retired. Mary enjoyed her career with Carrs, most especially the interaction with the customers.
"Mary had a fiery Irish spirit, a dynamic sense of humor, and enjoyed life to the fullest," her family recalled. "She was a voracious reader, loved movies, and was a diehard Patriots fan.
"Mary was much loved and will be missed by many."
She was preceded in death by her parents, her great-grandson, Clifford Buswell, and great-granddaughter, Kianna Kay Smith.
Mary is survived by her sister, Shirley Hall, of Casco, Maine; her four children, Lindsay Knight of Kodiak, Stacey Buswell of Wasilla, L.K. Frizzell of Fox, and Kimberly Lamont of Wasilla. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A lovely lady, with a smile for everyone who came through the door. She made you feel that you were part of the Gold's Gym "family". Hugs to you Lindsay,

It's been so long since we first met at the old gym! Although I may not have liked those early 5 AM workouts Barb made me do (Still don't!), it was always nice to be greeted by your smiling face and humor! We sure did miss you when you left Gold's!
I know that you will be watching over all of us and still smiling!
My condolences to Lindsay and all Mary's family.

Lindsay & family,

Please accept my deepest sympathy at the loss of your Mom. We were neighbors for several years and I used to take care of Kim while Mary worked at Carrs. We had some great times together. I am very sorry that we lost touch with one another. She was such fun to be around and I loved that east coast accent.

What an awesome woman. I had the pleasure of knowing and caring for Mary through the many battles of her illness. Along with all the laughter and tears we shared together I learned so much about life from her. I had the honor of meeting some of her family but heard wonderful things about all of them. And MUMS the word.... your secrets are all safe with me !I will miss her tremendously and she will always be remembered in my heart.

I will never forget what a saucy lady Mary was. I used to get such a kick out of chatting her up, at the front dest at the old Gold's Gym. I don't know if I ever met a mom who was more proud of her kids. Those were the days! Godspeed, Dear Mary!

What a great lady! I am blessed to have known her. You kids should know she will be greatly missed by many. There are hundreds of us in Alaska who simply called her Mom. She was the quintessential mom to all of us.
