Gene CANARD Obituary
George E. (Gene) Canard, 74, passed away on Dec. 19, 2013, in Phoenix, following a short, but courageous, battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. He was born on June 23, 1939, in Mt. View, Ark., to Allen and Kathryn Canard.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; son Allen and daughter-in-law Joanna, all of Alamogordo; daughter Ashley Cathey and son-in-law Craig, of Roswell; three granddaughters Morgan and Addy, of Alamogordo, and Aubrey of Roswell; two sisters Fay Monden of Gainesville, Texas, and Wanda Shoger, of Lyons, Kan.; and one brother Louie Canard and wife, Sue, of Midland, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dewey Canard.
Prior to moving to Alamogordo in 1960, Gene served in the United States Navy. He worked at Ryan Aeronautical Company before joining John Lattauzio in the laundry business. He eventually owned Southwest Vending and retired in 2005. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Gene was a devoted husband and wonderful father and PawPaw. Every September you could find him in the mountains with his favorite hunting buddies, his son Allen, and Tony Rogers chasing elk with his bow and arrow. He treasured time with his family going to Branson, Mo., and often stated the best times of his life were our many trips in the motor home to favorite destinations.
Gene was known at Mayo Clinic for his blue eyes and ready smile and was characterized by one of his doctors as the most grateful patient she had ever encountered. We loved him deeply and he is greatly missed!
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Bethel Baptist Church to honor Gene's life.

To the Canard family. Our family is sorry for your loss. It is hard to go through this difficult time, but it's good to know that we keep in our heart all the good moments, love, and care that we share with our loved ones. Romans 8:38, 39 says that nothing …. not even death is be able to separate us from God's love.
