Lawrence Rewakowsky Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 28 to Jan. 30, 2014.
Born November 24, 1942 in Canora, Sask, passed away on January 5, 2014 after a brief but fierce battle with cancer, with close family nearby. He worked as a forester, construction worker, chuck wagon racer and farmer. He represented the forestry workers as the Union President, IWA-Canada, Local 1-85, Port Alberni, British Columbia, retaining his passion for the union and its brotherhood long after retirement. Larry exhibited a rough hewn exterior that belied his gentleness, his generosity and his affinity for people, especially young children. He was never far from a Golf course, being a member at Mount Brenton, Chemainus, BC, and volunteered at Lionhead in Mississauga and at the RBC Canadian Open.

Larry, predeceased by his parents, Paul and Mary Rewakowsky, grandson James Paul Jr (JP), is survived by daughters Jena and April, sons Kurtis, Billy and Jamie, sister (Rose), nephew (Richard), grandchildren (Jasmine, Angel, Kyle, Michael, BJ, Brittany, Brian, Brent), and great grandchildren (Braden, Aiden). After meeting Seeta, Larry was embraced by the Ganesh clan, Seeta's children and their spouses (Mark and Sarah Neal, Morgan and Kathryn Mackenzie) and became fond Grandpa to Justin, Logan and Adele.

Larry, your presence and story telling will be missed. Golf will not be the same without you. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Port Alberni on February 1, 12pm, Steelworkers Union Hall on Montrose St. Donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
