Sarah Schaefer Obituary
Brick - Sarah Elizabeth Schaefer passed away Tuesday June 12th, 2018 at her home in Brick, surrounded by her family. She was 66 years old.
Born in Neptune and raised in Lakewood. Sarah was a resident of Brick for 33 years. Sarah graduated from Lakewood high school in 1970 , she then went on to Georgian Court University where she graduated with her B.A. in Education. Sarah taught for 38 years at Toms River Intermediate East.
Sarah loved gardening, teaching and was a recipient of the "Governor's Teacher Recognition" award for her service as the Zeta chapter president of Delta Kappa Gamma in 2001-2003.
She is predeceased by her parents, Ernest "Joby" and Mary Elizabeth Davison, as well as her brother Carl Davison.
Surviving is her loving husband of 40 years Gary, her son, Gregory and his fiancée Rachel, and her daughter Leah Schaefer, and her sister Audrey Ann Estelle. Sarah is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held Friday from 4-9 pm at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood NJ.
Funeral Service, Saturday, 10:30 am at the funeral home. Interment, Adelphia Cemetery, Adelphia.

Mrs. Schaefer was my math teacher in middle school. She was a lovely woman who worked so hard to teach her students and make them love learning. She will be missed but her legacy will live on in the lives that she touched.

Sarah impacted the lives of over 4,000 students at Intermediate East. I had the honor of working beside her for so many years. Sarah was special without a doubt. She was a true friend, mentor, mother to many of us, and DKG sister. You will be sorely missed, but your smile and laughter will be embedded in our memories forever:) Rest in peace, my dear friend. I will look for you in the cardinal family you loved so much.

I had the pleasure of working with Sarah at Int. East. She was always so full of life and laughter. Her students and co-workers were so lucky to have known her. She will be missed by many.

I was very blessed to have worked for many years at Intermediate East with such a caring person. Sarah's smile, laugh and compassion brightened the days of many a student and staff member.

To Uncle Gary, Greg, Leah, Rachel, and Mom, words can not describe the deep sorrow we have on the sudden passing of Aunt Rah. She was one of the best aunts a kid could have growing up and I remember sleeping over at their house in Woodlake when I was little. Troy will always remember all the Christmas Eve parties she had when he was little and the excitement of Santa Claus coming on that fire truck to bring him his hess truck. She was not only a great aunt, but a wonderful, fun-loving special person who will truly be missed.
