Paula McGovern Obituary
Forked River & Tarrytown,NY - Paula D. McGovern, 97, of Forked River, NJ and Tarrytown, NY, returned into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sept. 2, 2018, after a brief stay at the Genesis Southern Ocean Center, Manahawkin, NJ.
Paula had retired from General Motors Corp. in 1979, after 40 years as an executive secretary in the Pontiac and Chevrolet Motor Divisions. She was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration, Tarrytown, from 1974 until 2016 when she moved to her permanent residence in Forked River. Paula was currently a communicant of St. Pius X R.C. Church, in Forked River.
Paula was predeceased by her parents, Michael & Mary Melnick; a brother, Michael, Jr., and two sisters Esther and Sonya. She is survived by two nephews, Ralph M. Hahn, Forked River and Mark E. Hahn, Barnegat. Also, three nieces Karen M. Layton, Manchester Twp.; and Diane T. Hahn and Janet D. Collins, both of Barnegat Twp. Paula also was predeceased by six grand-nieces and one grand-nephew, and 2 great-great nephews and three great-great nieces.
Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 at the Layton's Home For Funerals, Forked River. A funeral mass will be celebrated 930 am Thursday at the Church of Saint Pius X, Forked River. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. For additional information, or to leave condolences for the family please visit www.laytons.net.
