Emily Paul Obituary

Emily Paul

Brick - On August 27, 1927, a beautiful soul, Emily J. Paul, born to Joseph and AnnaMarie Romanger, made her entrance into the world. Her pretty smile, sparkling eyes, and contagious laughter would light up our lives for the next ninety years. On January 19, 2018, in the comfort of her own home, she answered the call to be re-united with the love of her life, husband Harry F. Paul.

Emily was born and raised in West New York, NJ, and lived in Brick for 60 years. She was employed by Garret Air Cruisers in Wall Township until her retirement. Emily was a talented artist and painted ceramics, made elaborate floral arrangements, baked for all birthdays and holidays, ruled over the Christmas candy making with an iron fist, and no Christmas tree was complete without her expert tinsel placement. She was a world wide traveler, her trips to Europe were highlights in her life, enjoyed weekend trips with her best friend Rosemary Lucca, and in her younger years, happily chauffeured her grandchildren anywhere they wanted to go. She was always ready for a party, happiest dressed to the nines, the more sparkle the better. Her home was party central, everyone was welcome, and her grandchildren enjoyed countless sleepovers, holidays, and birthdays there. Emily was always up for dancing, was an avid fan of cowboy movies and detective shows, and consistently beat anyone who challenged her in checkers or card games. She taught her grandchildren their multiplication tables, how to ride bikes, and was the only one brave enough to teach her oldest granddaughter to drive.

Emily tragically lost her husband at a young age and went on to raise her children as a devoted mother by herself. She is survived by her son, Henry Paul and his wife Joanne, daughter, AnnaMarie McGorty and her husband Terence, five grandchildren and spouses, Colleen Gilson (Todd), Patrick McGorty (Stefanie), Shannon MacInnes (Daniel), and Alaina, and Leann Paul (at home). Emily was the proud and loving "GG" to her six great grandchildren, Sean, Paul, Anabelle, Patrick, Daniel and Ryan. Our family was truly blessed that her great grandchildren had the opportunity to love, learn from, and make precious memories with their GG. Emily is also survived by her wonderful caregiver and friend, Marta, to whom her family is eternally grateful, her second family, The Luccas, and caring friends Roy and Sue. Emily has left a legacy of love for her family. She created the bonds and traditions that will be carried on for generations. She taught all who knew her to see the joy in life. She was resilient, funny, and loving. Emily was truly one of a kind. Her family will miss her endlessly in this life. Relatives and friends are welcome to celebrate her life on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 4-8pm at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Rd., Brick, NJ 08723. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, January 23, 2018, 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. Dear Henry and Anne Marie, I was sad to read of your Moms passing. Your Mom and Dad were both very kind and nice to me. Our summers spent together at Camp Zehnder, growing up are truly great memories. My deepest condolences to you both and to your Families.

Ann and Henry, I was so sorry to hear about your mom. I remember Aunt Emily well. She and your dad were there for my mom and me and my brothers at a time we needed them most, after my dad passed . I especially remember the summers ( I was only 10 or 11 years old) when your dad would come to pick me up to join you for a few weeks and your mom was always there to welcome me . After all these many years I remember the way she smiled, her laugh, her voice . So just want you to know that both she and your dad were among the most generous people I have ever known. Please accept my heartfelt thoughts.

Your Mom will always be remembered by me. She was always good to me when I was a little kid and she always was a special light at family get togethers. I know she is with your Dad and that will make them both happy.

My sincere condolences.
