JULIA BENSON KERWIN BOYDEN
AGE: 93 JAMESBURG
Julia Benson Kerwin Boyden, 93, passed away peacefully at her home July 6, 2009. Julia lived most of her life in and around the Jamesburg area She was a member of the first graduating class of Jamesburg High School in 1934. As a teenager living in Prospect Plains, she was a companion to Tamaki Miura, the world renowned Japanese Opera Singer from the 1920's. Julia's love of music followed her all the days of her life. She played the piano almost daily until the time of her passing. She was also an articulate writer and beautifully documented her life history over the years. Her love of crossword puzzles (done in ink!) played to her quick wit. Language was her second love and she was an expert on the use of adages, a talent that has been passed on to all of her children. An incurable romantic, she looked at the world through rose colored glasses and always managed to find the good in all. In the late 60's she worked at Woolco and became known as, "The Garden Center Lady", later she worked at Douglas College New Brunswick campus as part of the dormitory staff. The family wishes to thank caretakers Hilda Labri and Poemelia VanNess for their dedication and personal loving care shown to our Mother and our family over the years. Julia was a member of the Jehovah's Witness's Princeton Congregation, who presided over her graveside service at the Ten Mile Run Cemetery, Princeton NJ on July 8 2009. We love you Mommy and you will live in our hearts forever!
Mrs. Boyden is predeceased by her parents, Carl and Ellen Benson, who immigrated to the U.S. from Sweden, all her siblings, Agnes Benson Ivins, Val Benson, Emma Benson Brenner and Hilding Benson, and by her first husband Andrew Kerwin Sr and a daughter, MaryEllen Kerwin Konek.
