Anthony Caronia Obituary
AGE: 85 • Lakewood
Anthony F. Caronia, 85 years old, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at the Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Brick. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Anthony resided in Brooklyn and Staten Island before moving to Lakewood in 1999. He was the vice president for Angel Records in New York City for 35 years before his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Dominic's R.C. Church in Brick.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret, in 2007; his cherished son, Stephen; and sister, Catherine DeMattia. Surviving are his loving daughter, Catherine Caronia; and cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Mulligan, Alexandra Hanna, Gregory Favazza , Stephen Caronia, Stefany Favazza; and four great-grandchildren.
Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at St. Dominic's R.C. Church, Brick. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 would be appreciated.

Tony was a friend during the 70s when I worked as an announcer for WFLN in phila. He gave me quite a few classical records. My wife and I treated him to dinner when he came to phila while CarloMaria Guilini was in town to conduct the orchestra. Great guy.

I am so sad to discover that Tony Caronia has died. I knew Tony and Margaret very well for several years and took great delight in his warm and generous personality. I was based in EMI Classics in London as Chief Producer but came to the US frequently to record in New York with such artists as Itzhak Perlman, Placido Domingo and in Philadelphia with Wolfgang Sawallisch. Tony was always there, looking after everyone and smoothing away any difficulties. He was a wonderfully warm and friendly man and i'm sure he will be much missed not only by his close family but by the wide range of artists he adored (and who adored him) and by the colleagues he worked with. He was a good friend.
