Joseph HUIE Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

HUIE, Joseph Huie, Joseph Thomas (Joe), age 78 of Lenoir City, TN died Friday evening, August 2, 2013 at home, with his family beside him. Joe will be remembered for his unwavering commitments and faith in God, his family and his country. He lived his faith and principles with courage and without exception. A strong believer in the value of education, he was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he served three years in active duty with the United States Air Force and five years in the active reserve, achieving the rank of Captain. Early in his engineering career, he moved west to Seattle, WA with his wife, Jeanne, to work on the world's first jumbo jet, the Boeing 747. In Seattle, he and Jeanne had two sons, Jay and Bryce. The family then moved to New York, Pittsburgh, Knoxville and then finally, to Lenoir City, TN as he developed his career in the aircraft and nuclear industries. In Tennessee, he became a registered Professional Engineer. Joe delighted in his children and, then later, his grandchildren. He was a voracious reader, especially of history, and was a member of The Gideons International, an organization that distributes his favorite book on the topic, the Bible. Joe was an active member of First Farragut United Methodist Church. Born December 27, 1934 to William Huie and Lillian Middlebrooks Huie, he grew up on the family farm in College Park, GA with his five brothers and bachelor uncle, Stace Huie. He will be missed by his wife of almost 50 years, Jeanne Huie; sons, Bryce Huie, Jay Huie and wife, Shannon Huie; grandchildren, Spencer and Grace Huie; twin brother, John Huie; brothers and sisters-in-law; James and Sandy Huie, Doug and Diane Huie and Don and Claire Huie; sister-in-law and widow of Bill Huie, Doris Huie; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. A Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013, with a Reception to follow at First Farragut United Methodist Church, 12733 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37934 with Rev. Amy Probst officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Farragut United Methodist Church Building Fund or to a local charity of your choice. My regards, thoughts and prayers to the family and friends. I never knew Joe personally. But I am with the family. But I can note that he was loved and cared for by many. I understand he was a Godly man and a family man alike.
Let us pray:
We commend our brother, Joe to you, Lord. Now that he has departed from this life, may he live on in Your presence. In Your mercy and love, forgive whatever sins he may have committed through human weakness. Give him eternal rest, Lord, and may Your light shine upon him forever. Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
